Houston’s First MEST Conference a Success

Houston’s First MEST Conference a Success

Last week, Platform Houston spearheaded the first MEST Conference at the Rice Bioscience Research Collaborative. The auditorium was packed all day with people wanting to hear about local innovations in medicine, energy, space, and technology.

Speakers included out-of-towner Connie Chen from Stanford, Jeffrey Davis of NASA, and Kirsten Ostherr of the Medical Futures Lab of Rice University, among many others.

Threaded throughout the day, fifteen companies competed in a pitch competition that was divided into three rounds. Ultimately, the $5,000 award went to Medicasafe, a controlled-access pill dispenser that prevents drug abuse.

I wish I had a moment to recap all of awesomeness here for you. Instead, Jerald Reichstein of Bouncing Pixel let me reprint his notes here. Enjoy.
