UH student wins Houston WordPress scholarship

Andrew Douglass, a University of Houston undergraduate majoring in Management Information Systems, just won a $2,500 WordPress scholarship from WordCamp Houston. He plans to put the cash prize towards software, hosting services, and tuition payments.

WordCamp Houston is a day long event focused on the WordPress Community. Organized about two years ago by a team of passionate WordPress enthusiasts, the event features top notch speakers discussing topics like search engine optimization, theme development, and best practices for publishing.

WordPress love runs deep in Houston. After all, it was invented by Houston native Matt Mullenweg while he was a freshman at the University of Houston.

Congratulations Andrew! We’re excited to see what you do next.
