Houston App Aficionados Meetup – Wed. June 27 6:30pm
The Houston App Aficionados Meetup will be holding its second event this Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at 6:30pm at the ChaiONE offices on Woodway Drive. This month’s theme is Productivity Apps and a recap of Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2012 that was held earlier this month in San Francisco. The guest speaker will be Kevin Lee.
Kevin is an iOS developer from Houston, Texas and currently builds software for ChaiONE. Kevin is an active presence in the software developer community; he is a co-organizer of the Houston Javascript Meetup, a member of the Houston iPhone Developers Meetup, and speaks at many of the Houston tech events. Along with his love for technology, he is very passionate about personal development and productivity tools/technology. Over the years, he has accumulated a mountain of productivity apps, has read most of the popular books on the topic, and is secretly working on adding another hour to his day. Kevin was also one of the 5,000 attendees at this year’s WWDC.
Conceived during a Hackathon this past April, the Houston App Aficionados Meetup was started to get people who are passionate about apps together in the same place at the same time. While Houston has a vibrant community of app developers & designers, a void existed for those who may not be interested in programming but still love learning about cutting edge software on mobile devices.
Each month, the Houston App Aficionados Meetup will highlight the most creative and useful apps in areas such as music creation, entrepreneurship, journalism, fitness, education, and photography. The event has experts in each field speaking about the apps they use in their daily lives. It also highlights the most meaningful trends in the app space, and facilitates an ongoing conversation about mobile news on its Facebook page.
